Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or using On My Compass you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. They are an agreement between you and Onmycompass.com. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Who can use On My Compass
- You must be 18 or older.
- One personal account per person. You must not impersonate anyone or use someone else's account.
- You must not use the app if we have suspended or removed you before.
- Keep your password safe; you're responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at onmycompass@gmail.com if you think someone else is using it.
Community rules
Treat people the way you'd want to be treated. You must not:
- Harass, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone, or keep contacting someone who has said no.
- Post or send sexual, violent, hateful or extremist content, or content disrespectful to any religion or to the UAE.
- Scam, mislead or defraud anyone, or ask for money, codes or bank details in chats.
- Send spam, bulk or automated messages, or use bots or scripts.
- Share anyone else's private information, photos or location without their permission.
- Try to find someone's exact location, get around blocks or limits, or break the app's security.
- Break UAE law in any other way.
Safety tools
You can block anyone from their profile or a chat: neither of you can then message the other, and you won't see each other. You can report people and listings; reports are private. To protect everyone, the app limits how many messages, new chats and connection requests each person can send. If you are ever in danger, call 999.
The Market
- What you can list: things you own and are allowed to sell or give away, things you're looking for, and services you can legally provide, in the UAE.
- Not allowed: drugs and prescription medicines; weapons of any kind (including replica, air and toy guns), ammunition and fireworks; alcohol; adult content or services; counterfeit, replica or stolen goods; official documents, visas, licences, accounts, SIM cards or personal data; live animals and protected wildlife; loans, investments, crypto schemes, gambling and lotteries; anything else illegal in the UAE.
- Honest listings: describe items accurately, use your own photos of the actual item, and write in English. Don't put phone numbers, emails or links in listings; buyers contact you with Message.
- Checks: every listing is checked automatically, and some by a person, before it goes live. We may decline or remove any listing.
- Limits: up to 5 new listings a day and 10 live at once. Listings stay live for 30 days.
Businesses
To post as a business you must hold a valid UAE trade licence or freelance permit for the work you advertise, and give its number and a business phone number. We check these before approving the business, but approval is not an endorsement: you remain responsible for your licence, insurance, prices and the quality of your work. Changing your business name, licence or phone number needs approval again.
How we enforce these terms
We may remove content, decline listings or businesses, and restrict, suspend or remove accounts that break these Terms or the law, or that put others at risk. Where we can, we tell you why. A restricted account can only reply in existing chats; a suspended account can't send anything and is hidden from others. If you think we got it wrong, write to onmycompass@gmail.com. We may share information with the police or other authorities where the law requires it or someone's safety is at risk.
Meeting people and trading
On My Compass introduces people; it doesn't check who they are, vet them, or take part in your meetings or deals.
- Meet safely: meet in busy public places, tell someone where you're going, and leave if you feel unsafe.
- Trade safely: see an item before paying, and never pay in advance, send codes or share bank details.
- We don't handle payments. Any deal is between you and the other person. We aren't a party to it and can't refund, guarantee or settle disputes.
Your content
You own what you post. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and process it only to run On My Compass, for as long as it's on the app. You confirm you have the right to post it, including any photos of other people. You can delete it at any time.
The app is provided “as is”
We work hard to keep On My Compass running and safe, but it is provided as it is and as available. We don't promise it will always work, be error-free, or that distances, listings, businesses or members' information are accurate. We may change, pause or stop features at any time.
Our liability
As far as UAE law allows, we are not liable for: what other members say or do, on or off the app; items, services or deals between members; or indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited under UAE law, such as for fraud or wilful misconduct.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from My profile → Delete my account. We may suspend or remove your account as set out above. The parts of these Terms about content, liability and governing law continue after your account ends.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai. Disputes go to the courts of Dubai.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. We'll post the new version with its effective date and tell you in the app before significant changes take effect. If you keep using On My Compass after that, you accept the new Terms.
